The Abia State University (ABSU) community is in deep sorrow following the sudden death of Michael Wonderful Nikeur, a 100-level student in the Department of Food Science and Technology.

The heartbreaking incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, November 26, at Las Vegas Lodge, a popular residential area for students living off-campus.
How the Tragedy Unfolded
Students in the lodge noticed something was wrong when Wonderful—known for being quiet and highly reserved—had not stepped out of her room for several hours. They became increasingly worried as calls and knocks went unanswered.
“We knocked repeatedly and tried calling her phone. When she didn’t respond all day, we knew something wasn’t right,” a concerned neighbour shared.
With fear growing, some students forced the door open. They found Wonderful lying unconscious on the floor. She was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors confirmed she had already passed away.
