This approval comes after a successful resource verification visit, where expert panels assessed the university’s staffing, facilities, and readiness to run the programmes.

According to a letter dated 8 December 2025, the NUC confirmed that the new programmes will officially commence in the 2025/2026 academic session. The approved programmes are:

With these additions, FUK is strengthening its presence in the health sciences field, thereby improving training opportunities for students and making room for more professionals to serve the nation’s growing healthcare needs.
Key Approval Guidelines from the NUC
To ensure a smooth implementation of the new programmes, the NUC issued several directives:
- The approval covers only the full-time mode.
Therefore, the university must seek fresh approval before running any short-time or part-time version. - The programmes must retain their approved names.
Any attempt to change titles will require written consent from the Commission. - FUK must continue to provide strong teaching staff, learning resources, and equipment to maintain compliance and support long-term programme growth.
What This Means for FUK
This approval represents a significant breakthrough for the institution. It not only expands the university’s academic portfolio but also positions FUK as a key contributor to healthcare development in Nigeria. Ultimately, the new programmes aim to open more doors for aspiring students and support national capacity-building in medical and rehabilitation fields.
More updates regarding admissions into the new degree programmes will be shared by the university in due course.
