The Federal Government has approved and released ₦2.3 billion to clear salary and promotion arrears for university lecturers.

The Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, confirmed this on Wednesday. He said the move reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to improve staff welfare and strengthen the education sector.

The Director of Press at the Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo, explained that the funds were processed through the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation as Batch 8 arrears.
Dr. Alausa added that beneficiary universities would begin receiving payment alerts soon. He stressed that this payment shows government’s resolve to clear inherited backlogs and bring stability to federal universities.
