The Gombe State University (GSU) Institute of Education has announced the commencement of its Postgraduate Diploma in Community Health Education (PGDCHE) for the 2025/2026 academic session. The programme was recently approved under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sani Ahmed Yauta, and applications are now open to qualified candidates.
About the Programme
The PGDCHE at GSU offers both academic grounding and hands-on training in community health and health education. It targets professionals who already hold a Higher Diploma in Community Health Officers (CHO) or a Bachelor’s degree in health-related fields and want to upgrade their qualifications.

Duration and Focus
- Length: One year (two semesters)
- Training Areas: Health education, community practice, and teaching methods

Accreditation and Uniqueness
The programme has full approval from both the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).

Admission Requirements
Applicants must:
- Hold SSCE/GCE with at least five credits (English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry) in not more than two sittings.
- Possess a Higher Diploma in CHO with at least one year post-qualification experience, OR a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant health field.
- Be registered and licensed by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).

Lecture Schedule
