IBB University Closed in Niger State Over Security Concerns.

Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai, has been ordered to close immediately by the Niger State Government in response to recent security breaches and fatalities among its student body.

Abubakar Usman, the Secretary to the State Government, made the news in a statement on behalf of Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago. Until further notice, the university will continue to be closed.

In addition to expressing profound sadness over the incidents, the government confirmed that immediate action is being taken to resolve the problem.

During this time, members of the university community have been asked to maintain composure, exercise caution, and fully cooperate with security forces. The statement ended, “The government is dedicated to re-establishing law and order and making sure that those accountable are held accountable.”
