The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has begun accrediting 848 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The nationwide exercise started on Monday, December 15, 2025.

JAMB confirmed the development in its Weekly Bulletin after the Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, addressed key stakeholders during a virtual meeting. These included Chief External Examiners (CEEs), Chief Technical Advisors (CTAs), Zonal Directors, State Coordinators, CPAN members, ZITOs, SITOs and PITOs.
JAMB Calls for Strict and Careful Assessment
Professor Oloyede urged accreditation teams to carry out their duties with focus and fairness. He stressed that the assignment is a national responsibility because their decisions affect the quality and safety of the examination.
He also warned teams not to approve any centre that fails to meet JAMB’s required standards. In addition, he advised them to stay alert and avoid unnecessary risks. He assured them that JAMB has made security arrangements to support the exercise.

Centres Must Pass the Automated Readiness Test First
JAMB’s IT Consultant, Mr. Damilola Bamiro, explained that only centres that passed the automated readiness test will undergo physical inspection. The test screens out centres with weak infrastructure before the onsite evaluation.
Inspection teams will pay close attention to CCTV coverage and configuration. Each centre must use hard-wired HIKVision cameras, provide 16 channels, and connect all network switches to a UPS to prevent disruptions.
2026 UTME Registration to Begin Soon
With accreditation already underway, the start of the 2026 UTME registration will follow shortly. JAMB advises candidates to begin early preparation with the approved JAMB CBT software and practice app.
Those interested in running training centres or reselling the software can join the JAMB CBT Agent/Re-seller programme.
