Tragedy has struck Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State as Jeremiah Stephen Adina, a young graduate and recent NYSC member, lost his life barely two months after completing his service year.
The heartbreaking incident occurred on Thursday, October 2, 2025, when Jeremiah embarked on a short 20-minute trip from his hometown, Awon, to the local government headquarters in Kachia. Along the way, suspected bandits ambushed the vehicle. They opened fire, killing Jeremiah and the driver instantly, while other passengers narrowly escaped.

A Life of Struggle and Determination
Jeremiah’s story was one of resilience against all odds. Orphaned at an early age, he toiled on farms to fund his education at the College of Education. Later, he secured a teaching job in a primary school, earned a Bachelor of Education degree, and successfully completed his NYSC program with high hopes for a brighter future.
He had already set his sights on pursuing a Master’s degree, a dream tragically cut short by his untimely death.

Grief and Tributes
The news of Jeremiah’s passing has triggered an outpouring of grief from friends, family, and community members.
On Facebook, Doris Mackson wrote an emotional tribute:
“This is Jeremiah Adina, a young man who grew up as an orphan. He struggled on the farm and sponsored himself through school. After NYSC, he was so proud and excited about the future. But just yesterday, he left home for a quick trip and never returned. He and the driver were gunned down. His mother, wife, and children are shattered.”
Doris also lamented that the community was already in mourning following the killing of another resident, Mr. Kwanaki, only days earlier. Her message captured the frustration of locals over worsening insecurity:
“How many more promising lives like Jeremiah’s will we continue to lose? The military bases in our communities seem worthless. Our leaders travel the world while our people are being killed at home.”
Burial and Aftermath
Jeremiah was laid to rest on Friday, October 3, 2025, in his hometown. His sudden death has left behind:
- A grieving mother who depended on him.
- A young wife now widowed.
- Children who will grow up without their father.
His story is a painful reminder of the devastating impact of insecurity in Kaduna and across Nigeria.
👉 Jeremiah’s life, though short, was marked by determination, courage, and hope. His community now calls on authorities to take urgent action to prevent more young lives from being cut down by violence.
