Kogi State Polytechnic Uncovers Forgery Syndicate Suspends Five Staff Members

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, has uncovered a large-scale forgery syndicate responsible for producing and selling fake academic results within the institution.

Following the discovery, the management suspended five staff members, including a Deputy Registrar, while investigations continue.

Forged ND and HND Certificates Exposed

During a press briefing in Lokoja on Wednesday, Professor Ogbo described the development as “a serious threat to the Polytechnic’s integrity and reputation.”

According to him, investigations carried out by the Admissions, ICT, and Security Units revealed a network of individuals — including students, non-students, and staff — who allegedly created and sold forged National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) certificates for financial gain.

Furthermore, he disclosed that while several staff members had already been suspended, others linked to the scheme — including Mr. Dominic Egwuda — are still on the run.

Rector Reaffirms Zero Tolerance for Fraud

Professor Ogbo reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance stance on academic fraud, warning that everyone involved would face strict disciplinary and legal actions.

“We will not allow anyone to destroy the integrity of Kogi State Polytechnic,” he declared. “All those found guilty will face appropriate disciplinary measures and prosecution.”

In addition, he emphasized that the Polytechnic’s security and quality assurance systems remain strong and effective against such unethical activities.

Commitment to Transparency and Accountability

The Rector assured the public that the management remains fully committed to transparency, accountability, and institutional integrity.

“Our commitment to honesty and hard work is unwavering,” he said. “We will continue to sanitize the system and ensure that only merit and genuine effort are rewarded.”

Consequently, he called on staff, students, and the wider community to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and help preserve the Polytechnic’s academic standards.
