The Federal Ministry of Education and the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation have committed to immediate measures to improve transparency and service delivery in schools as part of a collaborative effort to increase financial efficiency in the education sector.

The Accountant-General of the Federation, Dr. Shamsudeen Babatunde, was hosted by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, CON, at the Ministry’s Abuja headquarters. There, they discussed the financial difficulties Unity Schools face, specifically the delays in the release of the overhead and feeding budgets.
To alleviate congestion, Dr. Alausa suggested decentralizing lower-value approvals and implementing term-based payments. “School resumption has occasionally been delayed due to food supply issues, and principals are under pressure from unpaid contractors,” he added.
In support of the Renewed Hope Agenda, both leaders underlined their commitment to coordinating financial procedures with educational objectives.
