In a statement released by the Director of Strategic Communications, Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) expressed gratitude for the ongoing cooperation of tertiary institutions across the country. The Fund also urged schools to deepen collaboration to ensure a smooth and inclusive loan process for all eligible students.

Oluwatuyi noted:
“NELFUND appreciates the continued cooperation of tertiary institutions nationwide and seeks their further collaboration to ensure a smooth and inclusive loan process for all eligible students.”
Key Update for Institutions
To guarantee a successful rollout of the loan scheme, NELFUND instructed institutions to update and upload verified records of returning and newly admitted students on the Student Verification Portal. This step is critical for applicants to successfully access and benefit from the loan programme.

Loan Application Guidelines
- The portal will open on Thursday, 23rd October 2025, and close on Saturday, 31st January 2026.
- Fresh students may apply using either their Admission Number or JAMB Registration Number if they do not yet have a Matric Number.
- Institutions are encouraged to show flexibility with registration and fee payment deadlines for students awaiting loan disbursement.
- Institutions that have not started their 2025/2026 academic session must formally communicate their approved academic calendar to NELFUND for scheduling.
Temporary Registration Measures
NELFUND appealed to schools to allow temporary registration for students whose loan applications are still in progress. According to the Fund, no student should lose access to education because of financial challenges.
