The Nigerian Academy of Engineering (NAEng) has opened applications for the third edition of its National Innovation Competition, inviting engineers, scientists, technologists, and innovators to submit practical solutions that address real national challenges. The Academy aims to promote creativity, research, and engineering design that improve everyday life and support Nigeria’s development goals.

Competition Stages and Requirements
Stage 1: Concept Note Submission
Participants must submit a Concept Note between Monday, 20 October and Friday, 19 December 2025. Each Concept Note should include:
- A summary of the innovation and the specific problem it aims to solve
- Expected social and economic benefits
- Explanation of the engineering methods used
- Current development stage of the prototype
- Sketches, drawings, or photos showing the design
- Profiles of key contributors or organisations involved
The Concept Note should not exceed 20 pages (A4) and must be submitted in PDF format to info@nae.ng.
Concept Notes will be reviewed based on originality, relevance to Nigeria’s needs, engineering depth, and potential for real-world application. Only shortlisted candidates will move to Stage 2.
Stage 2: Full Proposal Submission
Shortlisted participants will have one month to develop and submit a full proposal between Thursday, 15 January and Friday, 13 March 2026. Final winners will be announced in June 2026.

The competition is open to:
- Nigerians from all professional backgrounds, except Fellows of the Academy
- Engineers, scientists, technologists, technicians, and craftsmen
- Individuals or collaborative teams
- Self-nominations or third-party nominations
Entries must clearly demonstrate engineering content and practical relevance.
Awards and Recognition
Winners will receive:
- Cash prizes
- Plaques and certificates
- National recognition and publicity
- Access to investor networks to support project development
This recognition aims to help innovators bring their solutions into real production and community use.
