Racheal Akindiose, a brilliant Nigerian scholar, has made history as the only Nigerian selected for the SI Pioneering Women in STEM Scholarship. With this award, she will pursue a fully funded Master’s degree in Biomedical Surface Science at Malmö University, Sweden.
Her academic journey began at the University of Medical Sciences, Ondo, where she studied Biochemistry from 2018 to 2023. Through hard work and focus, she graduated with First-Class Honours and ranked among the top 1% of her faculty.

In 2024, Racheal joined the Passport Intervention Program. The initiative provided mentorship and resources that guided her international application. Out of thousands of applicants across Africa and Asia, she became one of only 51 women chosen for the scholarship.
She expressed gratitude to God, her family, friends, and mentor. According to her, the award is proof of resilience and determination. Furthermore, she is eager to channel her research into biomedical innovations, especially surface modifications for medical implants and diagnostics.
