The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Faculty of Law has celebrated 43 of its alumni who earned First-Class honours in the 2024 Nigerian Law School Bar Examinations.

The event, held on Wednesday, October 1, in the Faculty Boardroom, brought together students, lecturers, alumni, and special guests. Among them were Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
Recognition of Excellence
Speaking for the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics and Research), Prof. Bola Oboh, praised the Faculty’s tradition of excellence. She said the graduates’ performance reflected UNILAG’s strong academic culture. Moreover, she urged them to maintain professionalism and integrity in their legal careers.
Similarly, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Prof. Abiola Sanni (SAN), expressed pride in the honourees. He also pointed to new milestones, including a partnership with the University of Dundee, UK, designed to expand the faculty’s global reach.

Medals and Goodwill
Each of the 43 First-Class graduates received a medal and a congratulatory handshake. This gesture served as a mark of honour for their outstanding success.
In addition, Dr. Oduwole gave a goodwill message. She encouraged the graduates to stay committed to ethical legal practice and to represent UNILAG proudly across the world.
Alumni Association Announcements
The President of the UNILAG Alumni Association also used the occasion to announce two major initiatives:
- The launch of a UNILAG Alumni App to connect graduates globally.
- Plans to build a new student hostel to improve student welfare and living conditions.
He invited the new lawyers to join the alumni network and contribute to the university’s continued development.
A Lasting Legacy
This celebration reinforces UNILAG’s status as one of Nigeria’s leading law faculties. With these 43 First-Class achievers, the university has once again proved its capacity to produce legal professionals who excel nationally and internationally.
