The management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) wishes to inform the entire university community and the general public that, at its Emergency Meeting held on Friday, September 26, 2025, it has approved the immediate and indefinite suspension of all activities of the Student Union Government (SUG) on the Nsukka Campus.

Reason for Suspension
This difficult decision became necessary following the recent circulation of media publications and counter-publications concerning the affairs of the Student Union. These reports contain serious allegations that threaten the peace, order, and harmonious academic environment which the University is committed to upholding.

Interim Measures
Effective immediately:
- All SUG-led gatherings, meetings, and activities are prohibited.
- The Dean of Student Affairs will take full responsibility for handling all student welfare matters during this interim period.
Investigative Committee
The Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive has set up a committee to investigate the crisis and allegations surrounding the Student Union leadership. The University awaits the report of this committee, which is expected within the shortest possible time.
The University Administration appeals to all students to remain calm, law-abiding, and focused on their academic pursuits. Management assures the student body that these steps are in the best interest of maintaining a stable and peaceful learning environment.
