Lagos Teen Recovers from UTME Setback, Scores 351.

After her initial score of 158 was deemed invalid due to technical issues at her testing location, 16-year-old Oyindamola Apampa, a student at Lagos’ Lagoon Secondary School, achieved an incredible score of 351 in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), in an inspiring tale of tenacity and academic achievement.
Her updated UTME score is as follows:

65 for the English Language
98 in mathematics
Chemistry: 90; Physics: 98

Apampa’s initial disillusionment soon gave way to resolve. Thinking back on the encounter, she revealed,

“I was astonished to see the first outcome. I was aware that it didn’t accurately represent my readiness or skills. It was later verified that my test center was one of many that had experienced technological issues. Fortunately, the authorities let us repeat the test, and I did my best.

“My parents made our house highly conducive to academic success. We often debate a wide range of topics as a family, from current events to science, and we have a comprehensive library and a multimedia study area. Studying was more fun because of such a learning environment.

After being among the top scores in the country on the UTME, Oyindamola Apampa is now following her lifelong dream of earning an engineering degree.
