 About the Lecture: Punishment and Proportionality

Professor Adebayo Ayokunle will delve into the philosophical foundations of justice within the African context. The lecture promises to explore:

• The Ethics of Retribution: How African societies historically perceived "wrongdoing."

• The Concept of Proportionality: Determining if the "punishment fits the crime" according to traditional and modern African ethical standards.

• Philosophy & Law: The intersection between moral philosophy and the practical application of justice in contemporary Africa. Venue and Arrival

The OGD Lecture Theatre is the designated venue for this prestigious event. To ensure a smooth ceremony and maintain the academic tradition of the university:

1. Early Arrival: Guests, students, and members of the academic procession are expected to be seated no later than 01:30 p.m.

2. Order of Proceedings: The lecture will commence promptly at 02:00 p.m. following the arrival of the Vice-Chancellor’s procession.
