41 NYSC Bayelsa corps members Sanctioned for Misconduct.

41 members of the 2024 Batch B, Stream 1 cohort of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Bayelsa State have been sanctioned for a variety of misconduct and violations of the service code. Service year extensions and complete re-mobilization for a new service year are among the disciplinary measures.

These disclosures were made by Mrs. Okpalifo in the Bayelsa State capital of Yenagoa during the passing-out procession (POP). For hundreds of corps members sent to the state, the event officially ended their service year.

Dignitaries attended the occasion, including Dr. Wisdom Poyeri, the Executive Assistant to the Bayelsa State Governor on NYSC Matters. On behalf of NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, Mrs. Okpalifo gave a congrats speech to the departing corps members.

She praised the dedication and efforts of most corps members, who worked hard in rural development, healthcare, education, and other areas of the state economy despite obstacles.

Since its inception in 1973, the NYSC program has been instrumental in promoting growth and togetherness across Nigeria. The fact that most Bayelsa corps members successfully completed their service is evidence of the scheme’s ongoing relevance, even if the disciplinary measures may function as a disincentive.
