FG Declares June 12th as Democracy Day Holiday.

To celebrate this year’s Democracy Day, the federal government has declares Thursday, June 12, 2025, a public holiday.

On behalf of the Federal Government, the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, commended Nigerians on marking 26 years of continuous civil rule.

“June 12 symbolises our historic journey to create a country where justice and truth reign, peace is maintained, and our future is secure,” he added.

“The past 26 years demonstrate our tenacity, bravery, and strength as well as our renewed hope.”

The Honourable Minister reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope government (GCFR) to the universal value of democracy, which is founded on the freely expressed will of the people in determining Nigeria’s political, economic, social, and cultural systems, while also pointing out that democracy is sustained with open doors for further improvement.
