WAEC, Education Minister Sued for N100bn by Lagos attorney.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the Minister of Education are being sued for N100 billion by Evans Ufeli, a Lagos-based attorney and human rights advocate, who claims that the two organizations flagrantly violated students' fundamental rights during the May 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The lawsuit, which was filed on behalf of the impacted students, aims to provide a legal remedy for what Ufeli called cruel circumstances in which students were forced to take examinations in unsafe, poorly lighted settings. He is requesting a judicial ruling that the English language exam's administration was illegal, demeaning, and unconstitutional.
The complaint is filed under the Child Rights Act, the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights, Sections 33, 34, 35, 36, and 46 of Nigeria's 1999 Constitution (as amended), and it seeks six significant reliefs.
