The founder and chancellor of Maduka University, Samuel Maduka Onyishi, has been a vocal supporter of reforming Nigeria's higher education system and has urged academic institutions across to take a more intentional and useful approach to teaching entrepreneurship.
He underlined that the main objective of higher education should change from creating job searchers to developing creative job creators who can propel social and economic development.
He made a strong case for institutional reform in his talk, "Entrepreneurship for Human Development and Economic Progression: A Call on Nigerian Universities."
"Our universities must take the lead in preparing students to innovate, adapt, and create jobs in an era where knowledge is widely accessible and business environments change rapidly," Onyishi said.
To build ecosystems that promote young entrepreneurs, he urged cooperation between academic institutions, business executives, and governmental organizations.
