Governor of Ogun unveils ₦2bn Mapoly development plan.

A comprehensive ₦2 billion intervention project has been presented by Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun to the infrastructure of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Ojere, in Abeokuta. The project includes developing departmental buildings, campus roadways, a contemporary library, and a lecture hall with 5,000 seats.
The governor also gave ₦2.5 million to each of the top graduating students from 2016 to 2024 during MAPOLY's 15th joint convocation event. A brand-new bus was given to the school as an additional way to mark the event.
"The entire amount of this intervention is approximately ₦2 billion," Abiodun said. "It includes facilities that have a direct impact on academic performance, the learning environment, and the overall student experience."
Dr. Babatunde Jolaoso, the rector of MAPOLY, stressed the significance of the convocation, pointing out that it was the school's first since 2016 and that it was a reflection of years of structural and academic challenges. He drew attention to the institution's continuing land conflicts and urged the state government to assist in finding a solution.
Dr. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), gave the convocation talk. She highlighted how Nigeria's conventional diplomatic emphasis has changed significantly with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's new foreign policy framework, known as the "4Ds"—Democracy, Development, Diaspora, and Demographics.
She believes that strengthening bilateral relations and promoting national development need the participation of the Nigerian diaspora.
