Redeemer’s University Debunks Rumours on Fee Instalment and Hostel Access
Published on Feb 19, 2026 • Education
The management of Redeemer's University, Ede, Osun State, has dismissed rumours claiming that the University recently changed its instalment payment schedule and locked students out of hostels.According to the University, a fictitious document currently circulating online falsely suggests that students must complete full payment of their fees by 13 February 2026 or proceed on vacation. Management clarified that this information is incorrect and should be disregarded.
Official Instalment Payment Structure
The University reaffirmed that its instalment payment system remains unchanged. The approved structure is:
40% at the resumption of the first semester
20% before first semester examinations
40% at the resumption of the second semester
Importantly, the balance is not required before second semester examinations, contrary to claims circulating online.
Management explained that this instalment model has been in place for over a decade to make fee payment easier for parents. Therefore, recent actions simply reflect enforcement of an existing policy rather than the introduction of a new rule.
Clarification on Hostel Access and Fee Policy
The University also rejected claims that students were denied hostel access because of a new payment policy. Instead, it emphasized that the institution relies largely on student fees to fund its academic and operational responsibilities, as it does not receive government funding.
Vice-Chancellor’s Remarks
The Vice-Chancellor, Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, noted that the University still considers requests for payment extensions on a case-by-case basis when parents formally apply.
He also highlighted several measures designed to ease financial pressure on students and families, including:
Academic scholarships for high-performing students
Sports scholarships
Debate and competition awards
Support from philanthropists for indigent students
Educational grants for students whose parents are members, workers, or ministers in the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG)
Final Advisory
Redeemer’s University urged students, parents, and the public to rely only on official communication channels and ignore unverified documents circulating online.
The management reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, student welfare, and flexible payment support where necessary.
