Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto Announces Fully-Funded MSc and PhD Research Opportunities

The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS), has announced openings for two research-based postgraduate positions — one Master of Science (MSc) and one Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

According to the Head of Department, Prof. Muhammad Abubakar Amali, the positions are strictly research-focused and linked to ongoing experimental malaria studies.

Research Projects

Successful candidates will work on one of the following projects:

In Vitro and In Vivo Antiplasmodial Activity and Safety Evaluation of the n-Hexane Fraction of Combretum glutinosum Root

Molecular Mechanisms and Bioactive Compound Characterisation of the n-Hexane Fraction of Combretum glutinosum in Experimental Malaria

These projects aim to explore the pharmacological potential and mechanistic pathways of Combretum glutinosum in malaria research.

Funding Details

The sponsorship covers:

Laboratory reagents

Chemicals

Consumables

Bench fees

However, tuition fees and stipends are not covered under this funding arrangement.

Eligibility Requirements

For MSc Applicants:

A relevant Bachelor’s degree

Minimum CGPA of 3.5

For PhD Applicants:

A relevant MSc degree in Pharmacology, Toxicology, or closely related discipline

In addition, candidates must:

Be highly motivated for a full-time programme

Demonstrate strong research interest

Have publications and/or conference presentations (an added advantage, but not compulsory)
