Suleiman Sani Sulen-Jebu, a 24-year-old Nigerian, has been crowned the overall best Graduate student from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University ATBU, Bauchi, with an exceptional 4.79/5.00 CGPA in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
Suleiman became interested in engineering throughout his high school years because he loved creating and understanding electrical systems. With the help of his father and teachers, he decided early on to become an engineer.
His academic journey was not without challenges, however. Suleiman lost his father tragically during his second year of college. His academics suffered as a result of the emotional toll.
Being the only son in his family, Suleiman felt a great sense of duty to succeed. Motivated by his successful sisters, he set up a strict study schedule, reviewed the course materials daily, and started to prepare for tests at the start of each semester. He was renowned for his ability to collaborate with others, often instructing pupils and seeking help when needed.
His achievements were recognised by his department and teachers, who awarded him many awards for academic merit. Suleiman’s accomplishments extended beyond the classroom. He and his team developed a voice-activated smart window system with rain sensors to reduce reliance on foreign technology. This idea won first place in ATBU’s Innovation Challenge, earning it recognition and a certificate of honour.
In the future, Suleiman wants to employ engineering to solve global problems. He plans to focus on sustainability, artificial intelligence, renewable energy, and smart infrastructure to develop more efficient and eco-friendly solutions.
