UDUSOK 50th Convocation: 119 First-Class Graduates

Together with its 42nd convocation ceremony, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This historic event honours academic achievement, institutional development, and national service.
The celebration will take place from Monday, September 1 to Saturday, September 6, 2025, and will include a variety of activities such as academic talks, cultural showcases, technology exhibits, and humanitarian outreach.

During a press conference, Professor Bashiru Garba, the vice chancellor of UDUS, declared that 119 of the 4,024 graduating students received first-class honours. 120 PhD recipients, 463 postgraduate students, and 3,561 undergraduates make up the complete breakdown.
The university's development during the last fifty years was highlighted by Professor Garba, who also highlighted the institution's strong emphasis on academic quality, creative research, and meaningful community involvement. Additionally, he thanked the previous administrators, instructors, students, and other stakeholders who have helped the school along the way.
The university will bestow honorary degrees on two distinguished individuals as part of the milestone celebration:
- Sheikh Daurawa Muhammad Aminu Ibrahim
- The previous Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Faruku Yahaya (Rtd.)
Professor Dejo Abdulrahman will also get the esteemed title of Emeritus Professor in recognition of his noteworthy contributions to the university.
In honour of its history and legacy builders, the university has renamed important facilities after notable figures who have contributed to UDUS's development as a preeminent academic institution.
This convocation ceremony and golden jubilee represent UDUS's accomplishments and its forward-thinking dedication to leadership, education, and national development.
