JAMB 2026 Direct Entry: Your Complete Guide to Registration and Requirements

Published on Mar 10, 2026 • Education

The 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Direct Entry (DE) registration is officially underway. If you are looking to skip 100-level and dive straight into your degree, now is the time to act.

The window for ePIN vending and registration closes on Saturday, 25th April 2026. With a fixed cost of N5,700, it is essential to get your details right the first time. Please note that unlike the UTME, DE registration can only be completed at State and Zonal JAMB offices nationwide.

Do You Qualify? (Direct Entry Requirements)
To be eligible, you need a minimum of five SSSC (O’level) credit passes at no more than two sittings. At least two of these credits must be at the Principal or Advanced level.

JAMB accepts several qualifications in lieu of traditional A-Levels, including:

First Degrees (from Nigerian or foreign universities)

University Diplomas and National Diplomas (ND)

Higher National Diplomas (HND) and NCE

IJMB, JUPEB, and NABTEB (ANBC/ANTC) A-Level certificates

Cambridge A-Level, International Baccalaureate, and Foreign GCE A-levels

Crucial Tip: Awarding institutions must verify your certificates with JAMB before your registration is finalized. We highly recommend pre-verifying your qualifications to avoid last-minute delays.

Step-by-Step Registration Guide
1. Create Your Profile
Everything starts with your mobile number. This SIM becomes your permanent identity with JAMB.

The NIN Method: Send the word "NIN," followed by a space and your 11-digit National Identification Number, to 55019 or 66019 (e.g., NIN 00123456789).

Receive Your Code: You’ll get a 10-character Profile Code via SMS. Keep this safe; you’ll need it for everything from buying your ePIN to checking your results.

Stay Active: If you bought a SIM just for this, use your Telco’s "Keep My Number" (KMN) service so the line doesn't expire.

2. Purchase Your ePIN
Take your Profile Code to any participating bank, NIPOST office, or mobile money operator. After paying the N5,700 fee, your ePIN will be delivered to your phone via SMS.

3. Visit a JAMB Office
Head to a JAMB State or Zonal office with your Profile Code and ePIN.

Biometrics: You must be there in person. They will capture all ten fingerprints and take your photo.

Information Ready: Have your previous school’s matriculation number, your subjects of qualification, the awarding institution, and your graduation year ready to go.

Vital Rules for Success
To ensure your application isn't disqualified, keep these "golden rules" in mind:

No Awaiting O-Levels: You cannot register for Direct Entry with an "Awaiting Result" status for O-Levels. All O-Level results must be uploaded at the point of registration.

A-Level Verification: If you are awaiting IJMB, JUPEB, or NABTEB results, you must upload your Admission Letter and Registration Template during the process.

Be Honest About Your History: You must disclose if you have been admitted to a university or matriculated before. Failing to mention a previous admission is considered an offense and could invalidate your registration.

One Profile Only: Never register more than once. If you make a mistake, use the JAMB online ticketing system to request a correction. Creating a second profile will lead to disqualification.

Need Help? (Self-Service & Support)
Lost your Profile Code? Text RESEND to 55019 or 66019 from your registered number.

Forgot your Password? Text PASSWORD followed by your [email address] to 55019 or 66019.

General Complaints: Don’t bother writing letters. Visit the JAMB Support Link and create a "Support Ticket." It is the fastest way to get your issues resolved.
