Professor Olufemi Peters, the vice-chancellor of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), has urged universities around Nigeria to recognize the vital roles librarians play in promoting research and providing high-quality instruction.

Professor Peters, speaking on behalf of Professor Godwin Akper, Deputy Vice Chancellor of Technology, Innovation, and Research, denounced the continued disrespect for the strategic role of libraries in contemporary academic environments at the 112th biennial conference of the Association of University Librarians of Nigerian Universities (AULNU), which was hosted at the NOUN Conference Centre in Abuja.
One of the main goals of my administration, according to Peters, is to improve academic staff members' capacity for research. "We have purposefully set aside funds to empower the University Librarian and guarantee the ongoing improvement of our library's educational materials to support this."
