University of Calabar (UNICAL) Post-UTME/DE 2026: Cut-off mark, Eligibility and Registration Details

The management of the University of Calabar (UNICAL) has announced the commencement of its Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise for the 2026/2027 academic session.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and selected UNICAL as their first-choice institution, as well as Direct Entry candidates seeking Admission into the university's undergraduate programmes.

UNICAL Cut-Off Mark for 2026/2027 Admission

Candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2026 UTME are eligible to apply for the admission screening exercise.

However, candidates seeking admission into highly competitive programmes such as Medicine and Surgery, Dentistry, Nursing Science, Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, and Law are advised to aim for significantly higher scores due to competition for available spaces.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the screening exercise, candidates must:

  • Choose the University of Calabar (UNICAL) as their First Choice Institution.

  • Obtain a minimum score of 150 in the 2026 UTME.

  • Possess at least five (5) O'Level credit passes including English Language and Mathematics in relevant subjects.

  • Have the correct UTME subject combination for their chosen course.

  • Upload their O'Level results on the JAMB CAPS portal.

  • Provide a valid phone number and email address during registration.

Candidates awaiting O'Level results may also apply but must upload their results before admission processing is concluded.

Direct Entry (DE) Candidates

Direct Entry candidates are also eligible to participate in the screening exercise provided they possess relevant qualifications such as:

  • ND (National Diploma)

  • NCE (Nigeria Certificate in Education)

  • HND (Higher National Diploma)

  • IJMB

  • JUPEB

  • A-Level Certificates

  • First Degree or equivalent qualifications recognized by JAMB.

All Direct Entry candidates must ensure that their credentials are submitted through the appropriate JAMB Direct Entry process.

Registration Period

Online registration for the 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening exercise is expected to commence in June 2026.

Candidates are advised to regularly visit the university portal for official announcements regarding the registration deadline and screening schedule.

Screening Method

UNICAL is expected to conduct a Computer-Based Test (CBT) Post-UTME screening exercise for eligible candidates.

Applicants should print their screening schedule slips after registration and arrive at their designated centres on the scheduled dates.

Registration Fee

Eligible candidates are required to pay a non-refundable screening fee of ₦2,000 through the approved university payment platform.

Additional bank or portal charges may apply where necessary.

How to Apply

Candidates should:

  1. Visit the UNICAL Post-UTME Portal.

  2. Enter their JAMB Registration Number.

  3. Generate a payment invoice.

  4. Pay the prescribed screening fee through approved channels.

  5. Complete the online registration form.

  6. Upload required credentials.

  7. Print the completed registration slip.

Important Notice

Candidates who did not initially choose UNICAL as their first-choice institution may apply after completing a Change of Institution through JAMB and selecting the University of Calabar as their preferred institution.
