Nigerian Man Breaks LASU Record with 4.95 CGPA.

At Lagos State University (LASU), Oladimeji Shotunde, a remarkable Nigerian scholar, broke a 37-year-old university record by graduating as the top student of the 2019–2020 academic year with an astonishing 4.95/5.00 CGPA in Business Administration.

Reaching this amazing milestone was not an easy feat. Perseverance, obstacles, and sacrifice characterized Shotunde’s path, particularly his father’s heartbreaking choice to sell his automobile in to support Oladimeji and his siblings’ further education.

A Leader and a Scholar

Shotunde devoted himself to encouraging others while juggling his demanding academic career. He established Excel Minds Academic Group, a program that now serves more than 1,000 kids in Nigeria. He mentored colleagues, conducted free lessons, and established himself as a community leader in academic success thanks to this platform.

Accepted by the Government
Outside of campus, he gained recognised for his outstanding performance. In recognition of his academic achievement, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu gave him a ₦5 million cash reward during the LASU commencement event.

Honouring Sacrifice
When Shotunde revealed how his family contributed to his achievement, his narrative hit its most poignant moment. Given the extent of their efforts, he spoke of his immense appreciation for having his parents attend his graduation.

Shotunde attended University College London (UCL) to get a Master’s degree in Innovation after graduating and completing his national youth service.

His ultimate objective is to work as a consultant who connects academics and business, utilising his experience to promote inclusive innovation, mentoring, and educational change across Africa.
