University of Abuja Announces 29th & 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony

About the Event

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, has officially rolled out the red carpet for the institution's highly anticipated 29th and 30th Combined Convocation Ceremony. On behalf of the University Council and Senate, the school invites graduands, parents, and the general public to a week-long celebration of academic excellence.

From Friday, 10th April to Saturday, 18th April 2026, the campus will buzz with activities ranging from research showcases to high-profile lectures, culminating in the award of First Degrees, Higher Degrees, and Honorary Doctorates.

Key Highlights of the Convocation Week
The university has curated a diverse schedule to ensure every aspect of campus life is celebrated. Most major events will kick off at 10:00 am daily at the University Convocation Square (Main Campus).

Spiritual Foundations & Briefings
Friday, 10th April: Juma’at Prayer at the University Mosque (1:00 pm).

Sunday, 12th April: Inter-Denominational Church Service at the Chapel of Love, Mini Campus (9:00 am).

Monday, 13th April: Official Press Briefing by the Vice-Chancellor at the Academic Conference Centre.

Innovation, Health, and Mentorship (Tuesday, 14th April)
Tuesday is packed with value for current students and graduands alike. It begins with a Faculty Innovation Showcase featuring research projects and patents at 10:00 am. This is followed by a vital Drug Awareness Lecture at 3:00 pm by the NDLEA Director General, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd). The day ends with an intimate Fireside Chat between the Vice-Chancellor and First-Class graduands.

Environment and Arts (Wednesday, 15th April)
In a nod to sustainability, the best graduating students will lead a Tree Planting exercise at 10:00 am, followed by a lecture on Climate Change and Carbon Credits. To cap off the day, the Department of Theatre Arts will perform the official Convocation Play at 4:00 pm.

The Big Stage: Lectures and Graduations
Thursday, 16th April: The Convocation Lecture features Olugbenga Agboola, OON (CEO of Flutterwave), who will discuss navigating the "AI-Powered Fintech World."

Friday, 17th April: The main Award of First Degrees at the Convocation Square, followed by the prestigious Chancellor’s Dinner at Transcorp Hilton at 6:00 pm.

Saturday, 18th April: The grand finale—the Award of Higher Degrees and the conferment of Honorary Degrees.

Important Notes for Graduands
If you are part of the graduating class, ensure you have cleared all departmental requirements and settled any outstanding fees to facilitate a smooth gown collection process.
