One student expressed frustration, saying, “How did this happen? Vendors sustain us.” Others called for immediate safety audits and improved maintenance of electrical infrastructure across campus.
Former Vice-Chancellor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe reportedly emphasized the need for routine inspections and proper grounding of electrical installations to prevent similar tragedies.

In an official statement, the University’s Head of Communication, Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the deceased’s family.
She urged members of the public to avoid speculation while investigations continue, adding that the University remains committed to campus safety.
