Management at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) has officially announced the immediate enforcement of the minimum lecture attendance policy. This decision follows a management meeting held on Thursday, 9th April, 2026, where concerns were raised regarding poor student attendance and its negative impact on academic performance across various departments.

In accordance with Section 3.4.01 of the Students’ Handbook, the institution will no longer tolerate absenteeism.

πŸ“‰ The New Attendance Requirements

The policy differentiates between student streams, but the consequences for failing to meet the mark remain the same.

Student Category Minimum Attendance Required
Full-Time Students 70%
Part-Time Students 50%

⚠️ The Consequence: Exam Exclusion

The directive is clear: Any student who fails to meet the minimum percentage requirement will be barred from sitting for the semester examination in the affected course(s).

There are no exceptions to this rule. If you don't show up for the lectures, you won't be allowed to show up for the finals.

πŸ“‹ Directives to Heads of Department (HODs)

To ensure this isn't just a "paper policy," Management has mandated HODs to:

  1. Communicate: Formally notify all academic staff and students within their departments.

  2. Enforce: Ensure strict compliance during every lecture.

  3. Record: Maintain accurate, verifiable attendance registers for monitoring and auditing.

πŸ’‘ Why Now?

Management noted that the decline in lecture attendance has led to a noticeable drop in academic standards and student performance. By enforcing this policy (which has always been in the Handbook), the institution aims to:

  • Restore academic discipline.

  • Ensure students receive the full value of their tuition.

  • Improve overall CGPAs across all departments.

Take Note: This policy takes immediate effect. If you have been skipping classes thinking the "usual way" will work, it is time to adjust your schedule.
