Commerce NECO Syllabus
Below is the 2026 NECO Commerce Syllabus for both internal and external candidates.
Aims and Objectives
The syllabus is designed to enable candidates to:

acquire knowledge of the principles and practices of commerce.
-
understand the structure and functions of commercial activities.
-
appreciate the role of commerce in economic development.
-
develop an understanding of trade, finance, transportation, and communication.
-
understand the organization and management of business enterprises.
-
develop entrepreneurial and decision-making skills.
-
appreciate the importance of commerce in local and international trade.
-
prepare for further studies and careers in business-related fields.
Scheme of Examination
There will be two papers, Paper I and Paper II, both of which must be taken.
Paper I
Will consist of fifty multiple-choice objective questions covering all aspects of the syllabus.
Duration: 1 hour
Marks: 50
Paper II
Will consist of essay and structured questions.
Candidates will be required to answer questions from different sections of the syllabus.
Duration: 2 hours
Marks: 100
