Data Management NECO Syllabus

Below is the 2026 NECO Data Management Syllabus for both internal and external candidates.

Aims and Objectives

The syllabus is designed to enable candidates to:

  • acquire knowledge of data management concepts and practices.

  • understand the processes involved in collecting, organizing, storing, and retrieving data.

  • develop practical skills in handling and managing information effectively.

  • understand the role of databases and information systems in organizations.

  • appreciate the importance of data security, privacy, and integrity.

  • develop analytical and problem-solving skills through data management activities.

  • understand modern technologies used in data management.

  • prepare for further studies and careers in information management and technology.

Scheme of Examination

There will be two papers, Paper I and Paper II, both of which must be taken.

Paper I

Will consist of fifty multiple-choice objective questions covering all aspects of the syllabus.

Duration: 1 hour
Marks: 50

Paper II

Will consist of essay, structured, and practical-related questions.

Candidates will be required to answer questions from different sections of the syllabus.

Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Marks: 100
